Sizzling summer swelter got you down? Hankering for a remedy packed with rockin’ reckless abandon? Then the theme party White Trash 4 this Saturday at The Visulite Theatre is just what the doctor ordered.

Mullets are de rigueur, wax up the muscle car and trot out your best Britney-wear — making sure to go out of your way clashing style and color — then revel in the reveal of your tasteless inner bohemian. Presented by Nasty/Shane Productions, with music from Iron Cordoba, WT4 is a tour de force just as outrageous as the now-legendary Viking Metal Party and the epic Curse o' the Irish Party.

Jay Tilyard (Iron Cordoba) and Tracie Nasta (Nasty/Shane) pack these July extravaganzas with silliness and parodies that spoof car-revving, wiffle-ball playing, tire-changing, beer-drinking, hotdog eating and all sorts of "hey y'all watch this" competitions. “In this day and age people are taking themselves way too seriously,” Nasta says, “We poke fun at things we love/hate in the same way a comedian would but we do it to help break down the barriers and attitudes.

“Our minds are slightly warped and we do these events to have fun,” she says. That includes Iron Cordoba’s “intensely trashy set” of originals like "White Trash" (AC/DC-ish hell-raiser), "Crystal" (an ’80s-inspired love ballad) and "Trailer Park Queen" ( tribute to modern rock momma). The lineup includes Dethrow Bodean, a “strange, twisted bluegrass-y band”, headed by vocalist, Paul Fenner, (I.C./Psycle); Fillabusta Rhymes, an off-beat, off–kilter entertainer; and the Daisy Duke Dancers. It’s at The Visulite Theatre, 1615 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte. Call (704) 358-9200 or check visulite.com for show details. Go from the shallow and wacky to the deep and dynamic with Zappa plays Zappa this Tuesday at Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theatre, a concert of the music of legendary Frank Zappa as rendered by a band led by his son, Dweezil Zappa. Yes, that Dweezil. The rocking guitarist/ heavy metal disciple of Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai turns to face his heritage leading a tour devoted to the music of his late father. The elder Zappa died in 1993 of prostate cancer and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. See the closest thing to the original Tuesday at The Neighborhood Theater, 511 E. 36th St., Charlotte. Call (704) 358-9298 or check neighborhoodtheatre.com for details. Discover more about the music and tour at zappaplayszappa.com.
