Need a laugh? Head to South Pointe High for Neil Simon's “The Odd Couple.” Come join Oscar and Felix and the rest of the poker playing fellas in New York for a night of friendship, divorce, poker, and fighting while you laugh till it hurts. This production features Jonathan Hoskins, Joshua Elmore, DJ Durham, Eddy West, Jonathon Long, Shivam Patel, Caitlin Gilliland, and Kayla Davis. Shows are tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults. Tickets are available at the door.

Rock-n-roll historian Barry Drake will give his presentation “1970s Rock: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” at 8 p.m. in Plowden Auditorium at Winthrop University. It is time for dinner and murder at the City Club, 140 E. Main St. in Rock Hill. The curtain opens at 8 p.m. for “Murder Over Shrimp Cocktail,” a murder mystery dinner theatrer four-act play by Greg Paxton. The play also runs on Saturday. Reservations are required and can be had by calling 803-980-2525.

Get a glimpse of the diverse talents of the fine art and design faculty at Winthrop University during a free public opening reception from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Rutledge and Elizabeth Dunlap Patrick Galleries. Also opening will be a “Conversations with an Echo” exhibition by Paul Martyka, associate professor of fine arts, and “Trials and Revelations,” an exhibition by Seth Rouser, Department of Fine Arts instructor.

Kick off the Christmas season at NarroWay Productions' “The Real Christmas Story,” opening at 6:30 p.m. The production is two shows in one, with traditional Christmas stories the first half, and in the second half watch as birth of Jesus unfolds, taken directly from Old Testament. There will be snowfall, Christmas music medleys, live animals, costumes and more. Tickets may be purchased by calling the NarroWay box office at 704-831-8893 or 803-802-2300. The NarroWay Theatre is located on Carowinds Boulevard, I-77 Exit 90. Tickets range from $9.95 for children to $29.95 for adults.

The Yorkville Artists' Guild will have its members' art dinner and auction at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of Laurel Creek in Rock Hill. The event is catered by Outback Steakhouse. Cost is $20 per person or $35 for a couple, and includes the auction, dinner, drinks and a raffle ticket. A drawing of the tickets, available for a $1 donation each, will be held for framed originals by guild members Joe Zdenek, Larry Blackwell and Jack Bolin. Providence Gallery, located in the Manor Theatre Shops in Myers Park, will present Innermost Thoughts, a solo exhibition of female figurative paintings by critically acclaimed Rock Hill artist Harriet Marshall Goode. Meet the artist at the opening reception from 6 to 9 p.m. at the gallery, 601-A Providence Road in Charlotte. The exhibit will be open through November. Proceeds will help pay for the entry and performance at the South Carolina Theatre Association Festival.
