RHEDC announces construction of second spec building in Waterford Business Park

In upcoming weeks, Rock Hill-based Cope Construction will begin construction on the 40,000-square-foot spec building on a 7.5-acre site on Apex Drive in Waterford Business Park. The expected completion date of thebuilding is November 2017.RHEDC recently sold its first spec building to Beacon Partners, who is currently completing an interior upfit for Oerlikon Balzers Coatings USA. That project was funded by a $1.8 million loan from Santee Cooper, as well as financial support from The City of Rock Hill, RHEDC and York County’s C-Funds for road improvements. The first spec building sold before construction was complete, confirming the high demand for industrialbuildings in the Charlotte region.

York Tech camp in Rock Hill teaches kids how to design video games

Students in grades eighth-through-12th learned how to design their own video games at York Technical College's Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, or STEM, summer camp this week. The classes are being offered through a partnership with the Rock Hill Economical Development Corporation, which helped pay for the camp. At the end of the week, the campers should be able to take away a three-dimensional working game.
