Penn urges US to pressure Bolivia to free US man

Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn waits to testify on Capitol Hill in Washington, Monday, May 20, 2013, before the House subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations hearing on Advocating for American Jacob Ostreichers Freedom after two years in Bolivian detention. Ostreicher was arrested in June 2011 by Bolivian police after it was alleged that he did business with people wanted in their countries because of links with drug trafficking and money laundering.

Actor Sean Penn on Monday urged the U.S. government to pressure Bolivia to free an American businessman detained without charge since 2011 in a case that has drawn accusations he was the victim of corrupt local prosecutors.
