FORT MILL — Fort Mill is advising residents in some areas to boil their water for two minutes before drinking while supplies are tested for drinking safety after a water main break Friday afternoon, a town official said.Residents in the area between the intersection of U.S. 21 and S.C. 160 and Tom Hall Road and Springfield Parkway, and residents in the Sutton Road area who get their water from the Riverview water system, are advised to boil their water, said David Broom, Fort Mill public works director.
A leak in a water main under Skipper Street left thousands without water Friday afternoon. Water service was restored by Friday night, Broom said.
Samples of the water supply are being tested, Broom said. Tests take about 24 hours, and the boiling advisory remains in effect until they are completed.
