In mid-February, authorities said 20-year-old Phillip Fleming Watts Jr. confessed to seven robberies:

n On Feb. 14, police responded to an armed robbery and shooting at Cash on the Spot on South Cherry Road in Rock Hill. Ida Neal Lord of Rock Hill was shot in the head and back. No money was taken.

n On Feb. 5, police responded to an armed robbery and double shooting at John Boy’s Valero at 140 Spratt St. in Fort Mill. Former Fort Mill Mayor Charlie Powers was shot in the face, and store clerk Yen Nguyen was shot in the stomach. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

n On Jan. 28, police responded to an armed robbery and shooting at Saltwater Seafood Market in downtown Rock Hill. Ping Chen handed over $300 but was shot once in the right shoulder and a second time in her left hand as she attempted to shield her face.

n On Jan. 20, Rock Hill Police responded to an armed robbery at Exxon One Stop at 2460 W. Main St., near Northwestern High School. The gunman pointed a small, black revolver at the clerk and said, “Give me the money.” He fled the store with $36.

n On Jan. 18, a gunman robbed One Stop convenience store on South Charlotte Avenue in Rock Hill. The triggerman made off with $700, police said.

n On Dec. 10, 2007, a gunman robbed One Stop convenience store on South Charlotte Avenue in Rock Hill. The gunman made off with $300, police said.

n On Dec. 8, 2007, a gunman robbed Palmetto Express, formerly Valero convenience store, on South Anderson Road.
