Victim of Willowbrook attack dies
A 65-year-old Rock Hill woman who was beaten by an intruder in her Willowbrook Avenue home has died.Linda Idell Friscia and her 85-year-old mother were assaulted last month when a man forced his way in their home at 843 Willowbrook Ave., police said. Friscia died late Saturday, York County interim coroner Sabrina Gast said. An autopsy was completed Tuesday, Gast said, but she would not release preliminary results because of the investigation. Final autopsy results are not expected for five to six weeks, she said. Charges could be upgraded No charges have been filed in the attacks. Last week, Rock Hill Police said the attacker could face charges of assault and battery with intent to kill. On Tuesday, police Lt. Larry Vaughan said it was too early to determine if the man will face more serious charges. "If the charges are increased, it will be after we get the full results of the autopsy, (and) if it comes back that the attack prompted her death or was the contributing factor in her death," Vaughan said. The man attacked the women on Feb. 15. Friscia and her 85-year-old mother heard a knock at the door, and Friscia answered. The intruder demanded money for lawn work; however, Friscia's mother said she had not asked anyone to work in her yard, according to a Rock Hill Police report. The intruder then rummaged through the home before attacking both women, the report states. Friscia was cut on her face and hands. The mother was cut on her face, head and arms, and she was stabbed in the back, according to the report. She was treated at Piedmont Medical Center, according to Rock Hill Police Lt. Jerry Waldrop. No arrest was made Tuesday in the double beating, Vaughan said. Police say the attacker was white, heavyset and short.
