Perhaps more frightening than ghouls and ghosts taking to the street is not knowing which night to trick-or-treat.
Since Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, residents are making calls to their local governments and to The Herald wondering when to don the costumes and grab their treat sacks this weekend.
Here's what local governments are saying:
Rock Hill, York, Fort Mill, Hickory Grove, McConnells and Smyrna have said they aren't weighing in on the question.
Rock Hill officials said they're leaving it to residents, churches and community groups to decide for themselves when to trick-or-treat. The city will hold Boo-HaHa, a trick-or-treat event, on Saturday in downtown.
Tega Cay recommends residents celebrate on Sunday.
Clover recommends all residents celebrate on Saturday, not on Sunday. Clover Police Department and Fire Department also will hand out candy on Saturday.
Sharon suggests residents trick-or-treat on Saturday night.
All of Chester County, including the city of Chester, is encouraged to celebrate on Saturday.
