All York kicker Matt Bostic wanted was another chance.

Moments earlier, the senior had missed a 37-yard field goal which would have given York the victory over Daniel as time expired in Friday's Class-AAA Upper State semifinal at Singleton Field at Daniel High School in Pickens County.

Bostic was also fretting over a missed 25-yard attempt in the first quarter.

But sure enough, Bostic did get another chance in overtime and this time, the senior more than made up for both miscues with a 20-yard game-winner, boosting the Cougars to a dramatic 10-7 victory.

"This feels great," Bostic said in the midst of the York post-game celebration.

"On the one that I just missed, I was thinking too much about it.," Bostic said. "This time, I just kicked it. The one earlier in the game, I just pulled it; and the second one, the snap was fumbled a little bit. But the last one, I just put my head down and kicked it."

York (10-3) led for the majority of the contest as its stingy defense limited the Lions to only 27 total yards after three quarters. The game, which also featured a tough Daniel defense, resulted in a combined 18 punts and only 16 first downs.

After recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff, the Cougars drove to the Lion 10-yard line, but that resulted in Bostic's first miss. Taking advantage of good field position in the second quarter, York got on the board when Spencer Carroll tossed a 24-yard touchdown pass to Reggie McLean for a 7-0 advantage.

The Cougars used a 40-yard pass from Carroll to Tay Neely at the 10-yard line midway though the third. However, Carroll's pass attempt was intercepted in the end zone two plays later, ending the scoring threat.

Still, the 7-0 lead appeared to be more than enough for the Cougars as the Lions were unable to generate any offensive momentum.

All of that changed, however, on the Lions' final possession in regulation. Taking over at their own 44 with 2:11 remaining, Daniel ignited the drive when quarterback Corbin Singleton ran 8-yards to the Cougar 42.

Running back Jae'lin Oglesby picked up 11 yards on his next two carries to the 31. Two plays later, a Lions pass attempt landed in the arms of a Cougars defender, but the ball was dropped with 1:11 remaining. Then on the next play, Oglesby broke loose on a sweep and eluded two York defenders for a dramatic 31-yard scoring run with 1:08 remaining. Michael Gammon's kick tied the score, 7-7.

York got the kickoff at its own 22, and a 13-yard run by Lee Wright gave the Cougars a first down its 37 with 25 seconds remaining. On the next play, Carroll launched a deep pass to receiver Josh McCoy, whose 51-yard grab put the Cougars in scoring position at the 12 with 11 seconds remaining.

Carroll ran towards the middle of the field to set up the potential game-winning kick. However, Bostic's attempt missed wide left, sending the contest into overtime.

The Lions got the first possession, but Oglesby's first run resulted in a lost fumble at the 6-yard line. The Cougars got backup Corey Dover to run three times to the 3-yard line, setting up Bostic's game-winning moment.

"I am happy that he got a chance to redeem himself," York coach Bobby Carroll said with a smile. "This was a heck of a game; both defenses were outstanding. In a game like this, you kind of need two defenses," to prevent the starting unit from wearing down.

York will now meet region rival South Pointe next week for the Class-AAA Upper State title at District Three South Stadium in Rock Hill.

Daniel ends an solid season at 11-2.
