Teen charged in burglary following car chase
Rex Thomas, 17, was stopped and arrested on Daimler Boulevard off S.C. 274 and charged with burglary and failure to stop for blue lights, sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris said.
Thomas was wanted in connection with a burglary in Lake Wylie, Faris said. Deputies say he took video games and a Nintendo gaming console and hid them in his book bag.
Police also found deer hunting stands that Thomas allegedly had stolen, Faris said.
A State Law Enforcement Division helicopter crew assisted in the pursuit and capture of Thomas, Faris said. The SLED team already was in the area for the 16th annual Police Bloodhound Handlers Winter Seminar, hosted by the sheriff’s office Wednesday morning.
“We lucked out today,” Faris said.
