At least 10 students were arrested Friday after two fights that might have been gang-related at Harding High School in west Charlotte.
The first fight happened just before lunchtime when a student was struck in the eye and needed medical attention, sources told WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
At least nine students were arrested after the fight, officials said.
The second fight happened later in the afternoon in the school parking lot. One student was arrested.
School officials said Harding went on lockdown at 10:45 a.m. because of the first fight. The lockdown was lifted at 11:15 a.m., but the school remained on a partial lockdown for the rest of the day.
Extra security will be present at the school on Monday, and students involved in the fights will be disciplined, officials said.
