No injuries reported in house fire
TEGA CAY -- Firefighters battled a blaze Monday morning at a Point Clear home in Tega Cay.
The fire ripped through the second floor of the home. No injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished by about 10 a.m., officials said.

LAKE WYLIE -- A Rock Hill Social Security Office representative will speak at Friday's Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women luncheon meeting at River Hills Country Club.
An 11:30 a.m. social will be followed by lunch at noon and speaker at 12:30 p.m.
Kelli Lee, a Rock Hill Social Security Office employee since 1994, will talk about issues regarding retirement, disability, survivors and insurance benefits.

CHARLOTTE -- Jennifer Roberts, chairwoman of Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, presents the State of the County Address at 10 a.m. Friday at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Meeting Chamber, 600 E. Fourth St.
Roberts will discuss issues facing Mecklenburg County government this year.
The address will be televised live on the Government Channel, Time- Warner Cable - 16, beginning at 10 a.m. and via streaming video at MecklenburgCountyNC.gov.
Spring clean Saturday
TEGA CAY -- The annual Spring Pick-Me-Up, sponsored by the Tega Cay Beautification Committee, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Volunteers should meet at Pitcairn Park at 9 a.m. for work locations with gloves, rakes, loppers, pruning shears, etc. Workers will be treated to a picnic lunch at Pitcairn Park between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to remove unsightly materials from their property, repair neglected structures and cut back overgrown plants.

Blood drives set to help McKemey
CHARLOTTE -- The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas and the Shepeard Community Blood Center are joining again to offer more community blood drives to support 13-year-old burn victim Connor McKemey, who is recovering from severe burns he suffered in a Dec. 21 outdoor fireplace accident at his Tega Cay home.
To date, the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas has hosted five blood drives in honor of Connor McKemey. Upcoming blood drives will take place on:
• March 30: 9-11:30 a.m. and 4:30-8 p.m. at the YMCA-Gold Hill Branch, 1785 Gold Hill Road, Fort Mill.
• April 4: 7 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Tega Cay Fire Department, 5000 Tega Cay Drive, Tega Cay.
• April 11: 10 a.m.-noon at the Lowes Foods Shopping Center, corner of Gold Hill Road and S.C. 160 near Tega Cay.

Church hosting Job Fair April 5

Former Army Major General coming to Wylie
LAKE WYLIE -- Army Maj. Gen. Charles H. Swannack, ret., is the guest speaker for the River Hills Lions Club's April 7 meeting of the River Hills Lions Club.
Swannack was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Military Academy in 1971. He served his nation for more than 30 years in command and staff positions at every level from platoon to Department of the Army.
Swannack served as deputy commander of the XVII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, where he helped prepare corps units for deployments to Iraq. Before assuming these duties, he commanded the 82nd airborne divisions from 2002 to 2007.
During this time he provided forces to Combined Joint Task Force 180 for combat operations in Afghanistan, and he personally led the division during combat operations from Kuwait to Baghdad and later civil military operations in western Iraq.
