STEELE CREEK— For the first time since Aug. 28, 2007, Mecklenburg County residents are free of water-use restrictions.
The decision was made today following improved Low Inflow Protocal conditions to Stage 1 released by the Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group. "The drought and restrictions leave us quietly, but this was really a huge response to a tough situation and everyone did their part,” said Maeneen Klein, water conservation manager for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities.
Restrictions in other areas surrounding Lake Wylie, such as York and Gaston counties, had not been changed as of early Tuesday.
