LANCASTER — Officials are investigating a derailed train in the city of Lancaster that crashed into a convenience store.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. today at the Buy Rite Discount Beverage store at 509 S. Main St., said Capt. Harlean Howard of the Lancaster Police Department.
The cause of the derailment is unknown, but the crash seriously injured one man who had to be airlifted to Richland Memorial Hospital, Howard said.
Howard didn't know if the injured man was on the train or a pedestrian. The man's name has not been released. L&C Railway, Comporium, Duke Power, the Lancaster fire and police departments and EMS were all at the scene.
L&C Railway declined to comment.
