SHARON -- Mrs. Purla Cornelia Good Gwinn, of 3040 McCaw Road, departed this life, Saturday, July 21, 2007, at her residence. She was a daughter of late Hosley Bishop and Emma Belle Nichols Good. She was the wife of the late William Luther Gwinn.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 26, at Mt. Zion #2 A.M.E. Zion Church in Hickory Grove, with the Rev. Frankie L. Smith officiating. Burial will be at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Sharon.
Mrs. Gwinn gave her life to Christ at 12 years of age and was a faithful worker in the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church in Hickory Grove. During the years, she served as Sunday School treasurer and teacher, president of the Usher Board, member of the Hymn Choir, and adult choir, was a deaconess, and was also a member of the Missionary Society. She, along with Mrs. Johnnie Mae McCoy began the Members Day program which has raised thousands of dollars during the years. She loved her church and her God. She was also a member of the AP&B Society and the Eastern Stars.
Left to cherish fond memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Magdalene and William Gill of Greenville; her sons and daughter-in-law, Arthur Lee and Diane Gwinn of Sharon and James Louis Gwinn of the home; two brothers, William E. Good of York and Jonathan Good of Sharon; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, three special grands and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
