GASTONIA, N.C. -- Mrs. Jannie Virginia White Mills, 87, of 4155 Gordon Drive, formerly of Chester, S.C., passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. today, Aug. 17, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church in Lowrys with the Rev. George Sims officiating, the Rev. Bill Stringfellow Jr. delivering the eulogy and the Rev. C.J. Stringfellow and Bishop J.K. Stringfellow assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Robert White and Clara B. Sanders White. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a former member of Mount Prospect Baptist Church in Chester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Mills, four sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are her daughter, Starlene Mills (Eddie Sr.) Barnwell of Gastonia; two sisters, Clara W. Sprout of Chester and Mattie Frances Wilks of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Eddie Barnwell Jr. and India Barnwell, both of Gastonia; one great-granddaughter, Genesis Campbell of Gastonia.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester. The family will receive friends at the home and also at the home of her sister, Clara W. Sprout, 2245 J.A. Cochran By-Pass, Chester. Quiet hour will be 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service today at Mt. Prospect Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.
