ROCK HILL -- Mr. James Matthews Varnadore, 74, of 155 Singing Bird Lane passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at his home surrounded by family.
Mr. Varnadore was the son of the late Viola Black Varnadore Thomasson and James David Varnadore. Born March 2, 1933 in Roaham, S.C., he has since been a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, S.C. He was retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. He was a volunteer coach for Little League baseball and football and loved to play horseshoes, cook stews and spend time with his family.
Mr. Varnadore is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laura Sanders Varnadore; His sons, Eddie Varnadore and Kenny Varnadore, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Karen Gregory of Dalzell, S.C., and Renee Giles of Fort Mill, S.C.; brothers, Roy, Donnie and Richard Varnadore, all of Rock Hill; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren whom were the greatest treasures of his life. He is preceded in death by Ronnie Varnadore, his oldest son and Bobby Varnadore, his brother.
Graveside services were held at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill, officiated by Albert H. Sanders Jr. and Carson T. Blue.

Mr. Varnadore had polio as a child and was treated at Shriners Children's Hospital, Greenville, S.C., where he requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Shriner's Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
