YORK -- Azelma Haselden Cauthen Baker, born Aug. 17, 1905, went home to our Lord Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007. Mrs. Baker is predeceased by Dr. Andrew Jackson Cauthen III, her first husband; Roy Gladstone Baker, her second husband; her daughter, Billie Clare Cauthen Yoder; and brothers, Alton C. Haselden and Charles Haselden.
For many years, Mrs. Baker worked alongside her husband in the family business, Baker's Shoe Service. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, since moving to Rock Hill in 1944. A loving, supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Mrs. Baker found joy in her family, home, garden and music.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Cauthen Russell and her husband, Lowry of Sharon, S.C.; grandchildren, LuAnne Bostic Lovelace of York, John A. Bostic III of Taylors, S.C., and Debra Lynn Bostic of Fort Mill, S.C. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Kippen N. Lovelace, Chrislyn L. Mobley, Madison C. Lovelace, Kacey Lynn Bostic and her mother, Tonda D. Smith; two great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Bernice H. Sligh of Columbia, S.C.
A graveside service will be Sept. 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, P.O. Box 1011, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to Camp Joy at Bon Clarkin, P.O.
