FORT LAWN -- Dr. William Jordan "Bill" Lazenby, DVM, 56, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007. He was born June 14, 1951 in Rock Hill, the son of Martha Jordan Lazenby and the late Lunsford Clifton Lazenby and was the husband of Gweneth Anne Agee Lazenby. Dr. Lazenby was the owner of Fort Lawn Animal Clinic, LLC. He graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, Magna Cum Laude, in 1976 and was accepted for graduation from Clemson University, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree, the same year. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medicine Association and previously served as President of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians. He was an amateur Ham Radio operator, the Chairman of the Chester County Rural Fire Board, a member of Gideons International and a recent graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy. Dr. Lazenby was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church, the University of Georgia President's Club, the Alpha Psi Veterinary fraternity, the UGA Veterinary Alumni Board and was selected as the South Carolina Veterinarian of the Year in 2003.
Dr. Lazenby is survived by his wife, Gweneth Anne Agee Lazenby of the home; his mother, Martha Jordan Lazenby of Fort Lawn; a son, William Gilbert "Gill" Lazenby, Esq., of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Dr. Gweneth Lazenby-Fogelson and her husband Dr. Nicholas Fogelson of Honolulu, Hawaii; his special dog companions, Dan, Boca and Jake; and the very special past and present members of his office staff.
Dr. Lazenby was preceded in death by a brother, Lunsford Clifton Lazenby Jr.
The Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Dr. Lazenby will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Union ARP Church - Richburg by the Rev. Carroll Arant and the Rev. Allen Derrick, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family of Dr. Lazenby will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, Sept. 19, 2007, at Hartley Funeral Home, 1800 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster and suggest memorial contributions be made to Fort Lawn Baptist Church, Playground Fund, P.O.
