KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Mr. Charlie Monroe Morgan, 75, of 4080 Sunrise Drive, Kannapolis, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast, as the result of a tractor accident.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Whitley's Funeral Home, with Rev. Otis Snow officiating. Entombment will be at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.
Born Sept. 29, 1931, in Cabarrus County, N.C., Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Coy Lee Morgan and Jane Foil Morgan. He graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in 1950 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed with Cannon Mills Co. Plant #1, #7 Weave Room, as a foreman, for 35 years. He also was owner and operator of Morgan Well Drilling. He enjoyed fishing and gardening as special interests in his life and especially enjoyed drilling wells. He was affectionately thought of by his family as a good husband, father, grandfather and family provider. He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia Roberts Morgan, who died in 1981; and two sisters, Thelma Morgan and Jeanette Chastain.
Surviving are his wife, Gail Beaver Morgan; two daughters, Debra Sloan and her husband, Dwight of Kannapolis and Barbara Brown and her husband, Marvin of Rock Hill; his son, Mike Morgan and his wife, Alethea of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Melody Honsch of Kannapolis, Miranda Sloan of Kannapolis, Chuckie Brown and his wife, Tiffany of Rock Hill, Amanda Brown of Rock Hill, Chris Morgan and his wife, TIffany of Kannapolis and Brittany Morgan of Kannapolis; one great-grandchild, Ava Brown of Rock Hill; his brother, James Morgan of Salisbury, N.C.; and three sisters, Fay Oliver of Kannapolis, Phyllis Dunlap of Eden, N.C. and Nancy Wilcox of North Augusta, S.C.
