CHARLOTTE -- Dorothy Schachner Zieverink, 90, of Charlotte died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Salisbury. She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Julius Anthony Schachner and Elizabeth McKane Schachner.
Mrs. Zieverink, who raised 5 children, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid bridge player and dabbled in painting as well. Dorothy was a member of The Catholic Daughters of America and the Ladies Guild of St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Mrs. Zieverink is survived by her children, Edward W. "Wally" Zieverink (Mary Jo) of Birmingham, Ala., Mary "Bebe" Stollery (Roy) of Concord, N.C., Francis A. "Tony" Zieverink of Winston Salem, Raymond D. Zieverink (Linda) of Rock Hill, S.C., and Madeline J. Zieverink of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Walt Zieverink , Barbara Zieverink, David Zieverink, Michele England, Susan Davis, Brent Zieverink, Amy Zieverink and Jody Zieverink; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Sloen and Emori Zieverink, Delaney and Regan Zieverink, Damon Davis, Samantha and Nicholas England; and sister, Rose S. Dundon of Charlotte, N.C.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at St. Patrick's Cathedral, with the Rev. Paul Gary, Celebrant. A Recitation of the Rosary will be said by Rev. Paul Gary at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at Harry and Bryant Company, "Chapel in the Oaks" followed by a visitation until 9 p.m.
