CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Mrs. Ruth Harris Metts, 83, died Oct. 15, 2007, at the Elms at Tanglewood in Clemmons, N.C.
Born in Senatobia, Miss., she was the daughter of the late Clinton H. and Anna Harris.
She was a graduate of Draughn Business College. She retired as a supervisor with the McCormick County Department of Social Services in South Carolina. During her retirement she organized the Senior Citizens Crocheting Club in McCormick and taught crocheting as well as other crafts at the Senior Citizen Center.
Mrs. Metts was a member of McCormick United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees. In 1992, she received the award of Retired State Employee for McCormick/Abbeville/Greenwood Chapter of the South Carolina State Employees Association.

Ruth Metts was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Cary Metts and a daughter, Lee Metts Brown.
Surviving is a son, Buddy Metts of Rock Hill, S.C.; two daughters, Sandra Scott and Cathey Cann, both of Clemmons, N.C.; one sister, Olivia Parrish of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, S.C., with the Rev. Leon L. Wagnon III officiating.
