ROCK HILL -- Mr. Dewey Hyatt, 71, of 367 Edenvale Road, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at his home.
The memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. today at Garden Sanctuary Church of God, with the Revs. Mike Wooten, Dr. Shelton Sanford and Gerald Bennett officiating. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Park on Cherry Road.
A native of Horry County, S.C., Mr. Hyatt was the son of the late James Murray Hyatt and the late Lela Turbeville Hyatt. He and his family migrated to Rock Hill in the 1950's from the coastal area due to the growing textile industry in Rock Hill. He retired from Continental General Tire, worked at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Company, and was a member of the American Legion, Pinetuck Golf Club, and Garden Sanctuary Church of God. He was an avid golfer and supporter of USC Gamecocks athletics.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Wanda Craig Hyatt of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Mary Hyatt of Catawba and Kenny and Robyn Hyatt of Rock Hill; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Hyatt Langston and Robert Langston, and Deborah Hyatt Green and Jeff Green, all of Rock Hill; his brother, John Hyatt of Catawba; his sisters, Retha H. Fowler and Edna H. Manning, both of Rock Hill and Daisey H. Hardee of Conway; his grandchildren, Wes Langston, Paul Langston, Kyra Hyatt, Hannah H. Brazzell, Chip Hyatt, Jessica Green, Stacy Green, Tori Green, Rebecca Hyatt and Kenneth Hyatt; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave Hyatt, Earl Hyatt and O'neal Hyatt and his sisters, Margie H. Shelley and Verbenia H. Shelley.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
