ROCK HILL -- Mr. Ernest Lee Lackey 93, of 1238 Dunlap Roddey Road, passed away Oct. 29, 2007, at his residence.
A native of Davidson, N.C., Mr. Lackey was the son of the late John Lester and Mattie Ola Griffin Lackey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Barnes Lackey, one brother and four sisters. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, retired from Celanese and was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a nephew, Glenn L. Lackey of Gastonia, N.C.; great niece, Lisa Richards (Darryl), son, Matthew and daughter, Anna of Belmont, N.C.; special friend, Betty Hope of Sharon, S.C.; and caregiver, DeRhonda Marshall of Rock Hill.
Graveside services will be Thursday, Nov. I, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Grandview Memorial Park Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Carolyn Gesche. Family will receive friends today, 5 to 7 p.m. at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Mr. Lackey.
