ROCK HILL -- A most loving husband, father, pastor and educator, the Rev. Dr. Willie George Boulware, of 761 W. Laney Terrace, was called from labor to his heavenly reward on Monday, Oct. 29, 2007.
The funeral service will be noon Saturday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Chester, S.C., with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Featherstone officiating. The Rev. Dr. Osbey Roddey will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Born on Aug. 4, 1938, he was the son of Thomasine Boulware Jenkins of Rock Hill and the late Roscoe Meeks. He began his career in education as a public school teacher and taught for 10 years in York and Fairfield Counties, and was a school administrator in the Rock Hill School District Three. After retirement, he served as a Hearing Officer for Rock Hill School District Three and also a Summary Court Judge for York County. Dr. Boulware was Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Chester and was involved in numerous community activities and served with many civic organizations, such as Kappa Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Morris College Board of Trustees. He was former chairperson of the York County Tax Appeals Board and the Catawba Mental Health Center Board and was presently serving as chairman of the Friendship College Board of Trustees.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his loving and devoted wife, Barbara M. Boulware; his son, Dr. Wendell G. (Bernadette) Boulware of Alexandria, Va.; his daughter, Deidre E. Boulware of Charlotte, N.C.; four grandsons, Nkosi, Nnamdi, Mekhi and Grayson; two brothers, Bilal Shabazz of Bronx, N.Y., and Roscoe Meeks of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Jackie M. (Meryl) Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; two aunts, Eva Love and Carrie Meeks, both of Rock Hill; one uncle, James W. Meeks of Rock Hill; a loving mother-in-law, Mary L. Tate of Rock Hill; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Friday, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 6:45 to 8 p.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 176 Center St., Chester.
