GREAT FALLS -- Mr. Joe H. Garris, of 3237 Shadow Lane, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at his home. He was 78.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Dearborn United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jason Everson, the Rev. C.O. Belk Jr., and Bob Tillotson officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Born Dec. 11, 1928, a native of Great Falls, Mr. Garris was a son of the late Dixon Jerome Garris Sr. and Eula Evans Garris. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended Pembrook College in Lumberton, N.C. Mr. Garris was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean war and was the ship photographer. A former employee of Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, Mr. Garris was retired from Duke Power Company. He was a very active, lifelong member of Mt. Dearborn United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Baker Garris; a son, Brian K. Garris and wife, Tracy of Great Falls; daughters, Toni G. Tillotson and husband, Bob of Lugoff and Debbie G. Jones of Great Falls; and seven grandchildren, John, Julie, Jenna, Haley, Justin, Felisa and Jagger; and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Chapin; nephews, Ralph Garris of Great Falls and David Garris of Belleville, Ill. He was preceded in death by three brothers, N.W., Toy, and D.J. Garris Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
