ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Thelma Elaine Davis Paden, 82, of 539 Washington St., passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, at her son's home in Waldorf, Md., surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
The funeral service will be noon Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at New Mt. Olivet AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Alvin W. McLamb officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Thelma was born Sept. 16, 1925 in York, S.C., to the late W.L. Davis and Amanda Meeks Davis. She received her B.S. in Education from Winthrop College and was a retired teacher of the public and private school sectors in Rock Hill.
She is survived by four children, Phyllis Paden-Adams (Alonzo) and Edith Fountain, both of Rock Hill, Dr. Colonel Vabian Lewitt Paden (Dr. Arlene Paden) of Waldorf, Md., and Janet Lenora Paden Baxley (Edward) of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother, James Rogers Davis (Reber) of York; two sisters, Sarah Graham of Gastonia, N.C., and Geraldine Byous of Los Angeles, Calif.; a special niece, Elaine Davis of York, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
