GREAT FALLS --George Columbus Williams Jr. of 32 Pinecrest St., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Born in Kershaw County on June 10, 1922, Mr. Williams was a son of the late George C. Williams Sr. and Lois Rowell Williams. He served in the Navy Seabees during WWII and was a graduate of Great Falls High School, completing his education after military service. As a member of Second Baptist Church, Mr. Williams served as superintendent of Sunday School, church trustee and deacon. He was a 40 year member of Great Falls Masonic Lodge 277 and a 30 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 211. He was also a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the DAV. He retired from J.P. Stevens Co. as a card room supervisor.
Surviving are his wife, Inez Catoe Williams; two sons, W.J. Williams of North Augusta, S.C., and Keith Williams of Covington, Ga.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Baker of Chester and Margie Blackmon of Great Falls.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home
