ROCK HILL -- Mr. Cole Blease Epps, 97, formerly of Oak Park Road, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A native of York County, Mr. Epps was born Oct. 23, 1910, a son of the William and Pearl Sutton Epps. He was a retired firefighter from Rock Hill Fire Department after 33 years of service retiring in 1975 as a Battalion Chief. Mr. Epps was a member of First Baptist Church in Rock Hill and was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Rose Critcher Epps and a son, William Kenneth Epps Sr.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Margaret Epps of Myrtle Beach; a daughter-in-law and caregiver, Jeanette Epps of Rock Hill; two brothers, Joel and John L. Epps, both of Fort Mill; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., today at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Epps will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday at the Chapel of Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery with members of The Rock Hill Fire Department serving as pallbearers.
