CATAWBA -- Mrs. Janie Robinson Knox, of 452 Rowells Road, was born July 27, 1909 and departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center. Born in Rock Hill, S.C., she was the last surviving child of 10 children born to the union of the late George Robinson and Lizzie Page Robinson.
Mrs. Knox was retired from the Rock Hill School District, where she began her career at West End Elementary and completed it at Edgewood Elementary. She was a faithful member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, where she was faithful in attending Sunday School and in serving as a part of the usher board, missionary, senior hymn choir, gospel choir and pastor's aide ministries.
Mrs. Knox was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Knox Sr.; one daughter, Ella Jane Hunt; and one son, James Burns.
Mrs. Knox is survived by one daughter, Josephine Roseboro of Catawba; one son, Mr. Freddie Knox Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; one son-in-law, Mr. James G. Hunt of Rock Hill; her goddaughter and caregiver, Mrs. Brenda Robinson of Rock Hill; one brother-in-law, Mr. Johnny McKinney of Rock Hill; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Robinson of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, several of whom she was instrumental in helping to raise; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew and other relatives and friends.
The services for Mrs. Knox will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Robertson officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery.
Walk through visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Robinson Funeral Home.
