CHARLOTTE -- Harryet Neal Kurie died on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at the Stewart Health Center where she was living for some time. She was the wife of John (Jack) C.F. Kurie who predeceased her on March 11, 2006.
Mrs. Kurie was born near Wichita, Kansas on Feb. 10, 1910. She grew up and attended school there and also taught English at one of the local high schools. Some years later she and her mother moved to California. In 1955, while working as a technical editor at Santa Barbara Research Corporation, she met and married her first husband, James G. Goodenough. Later they moved to Calistoga, Calif., where they bought and ran a vineyard. Mr. Goodenough died in 1961 and not too long after, Mrs. Kurie returned to Southern California. She lived and worked in Santa Barbara, Montecito, Rancho Mirage and Ventura. In March of 1992, she moved to Edisto, S.C. and married Mr. Kurie, an old childhood friend. They lived in Edisto, Charlotte, N.C., and then in Clover, S.C.
Mrs. Kurie was a gracious and gentle woman and will be missed by all who knew her.
