ROCK HILL -- Caleb Seth Byers, 14, of 829 Cammie Jordan Lane, passed away Jan. 13, 2008, at his residence.
A native of Rock Hill, Caleb was born Nov. 4, 1993, a son of Brad and Joi Snyder Byers. He was a Christian who gave his life to the Lord at the age of six. Caleb was very active in the youth at First Baptist Church, where he was a member. He was active in baseball with the Carolina Reds Organization and was involved in all outdoor sports. Caleb loved to hunt, also loved to surf in the summer and snowboard in the winter. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Snyder. Caleb was an eighth-grade student at Saluda Trail Middle School
Surviving are his parents, Brad and Joi Byers; a sister, Jessica Byers of the home; paternal grandmother, Edith Byers; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Baker; stepgrandfather, Everett Baker; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church and other times at the home of Kim and Bud Smith, 2885 Lake Wylie Drive, Rock Hill.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hogg and the Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Interment will precede the service at 3:30 p.m. at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Howe, Bud Smith, Justin Smith, Jeff Snyder, Larry Williams and Greg Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Carolina Reds 14U and under ballteam.
