ROCK HILL -- Mrs. Mildred Atkins Lee, 76, of 1429 Alexander Road, formerly of Sampson County, N.C., passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, N.C., with Dr. Louie Andrews officiating.
Mrs. Lee was a native of Sampson County, N.C., where members of her family have lived since the eighteenth century. Her parents were James Morisey Atkins and Mildred James Atkins. She attended Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clinton while she was growing up and was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. She was a graduate of Peace College in Raleigh, N.C.
She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Ruth James Atkins Jones of Clinton, N.C., and Penelope Atwood Atkins Pritchard of Cullowhee, N.C.
Survivors are her husband of 48 years, Charles Dennis Lee of the home; two sons, Charles Dennis Lee III of Rock Hill and Henry James Lee of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Mildred Lee Burke of Hilton Head, S.C., and Liza Lee Strickland of Rock Hill; sister, Jane Atkins Newton of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; four grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
