LANCASTER -- Mr. David Lee Howze, of 407 Dunlap St., Lancaster, S.C., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, S.C.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church in Edgemoor, S.C., with the Rev. J.E. Johnson officiating and the Revs. Lola Johnson, Charles D. Crockett, Ralph Cunningham, C.M. Booker, Michael Smith and Gary Smith assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Chester County, S.C., he was the son of the late Annie B. Crockett Howze and the late Roosevelt Howze. He was a member of Mount Vernon AME Zion Church. He was educated in the Chester County public schools and retired from Manetto Mill in Lando, S.C.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Pfc. Charles C. Howze, Bobby E. Howze Sr., and William B. Howze.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Barnes Howze; three daughters, Veda D. (Horace) Johnson, Dottie (Carten) Williams and Cynthia D. (Spencer) Williams; three sons, Terrence Howze, Thomas Barnes and Robert Simpson; five sisters, Mary Dantzler, Rosa H. Booker, Della J. Howze, Elizabeth H. (Norman) Dorn and Annie F. Howze; devoted nephew, James L. (Ann) Howze; two sisters-in-law, Mamie Howze and Burlessie Howze; one aunt, Alice Crockett; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Della J. Howze, 4435 Wylies Mill Road, Edgemoor.
Public viewing will be held today, Feb. 2, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at King Funeral Home -- Chris King Memorial Chapel in Rock Hill, S.C.
