GASTONIA, N.C. -- Nellie E. Pettus, 98, of Charlotte, formerly of Gastonia, died March 2, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2008, at Woodside Cemetery, Clover, S.C., with the Rev. John Stanley officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Clover, S.C.
Miss Pettus is the daughter of the late James L. and Amanda Wood Pettus and was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, a retired federal employee and served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army in W.W. II and the Korean War.
Survivors are nephews, John F. Pettus and his wife, Norma of Kings Mountain and Michael R. Pettus and his wife, Sondra of Davidson; niece Dorothy C. Pettus of Clover, S.C.; and several great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by brothers, James R. Pettus, William L. Pettus and John Kell Pettus; sister, Nannie P. Smith; and nephew, James L. Pettus.
