CHARLOTTE -- Staff Sgt. Lee Alan Brooks, 26, of 3939 Hunter Hill Lane, formerly of Rock Hill, S.C., and Colorado Springs, Colo., passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008.
Born in Rock Hill, Staff Sgt. Brooks was the son of Debbie Carlton Brooks of Rock Hill. He was a seven year veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom He was based out of Fort Carson, Colo. A 2001 graduate of Northwestern High School, he also had been stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Chaplain Joshua Gilliam officiating. Burial, with full military honors conducted by an Honor Guard detail from Fort Jackson, will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Staff Sgt. Brooks is survived by his wife, Krista Brooks and daughter, Miss Rylee Madison Brooks of the home; his sister, Kelly Ledbetter of Winfield, Mo.; and his maternal grandmother, Norma Carlton of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Greene Funeral Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill and following the interment at the home of his aunt, Tammy Spencer, 3006 Sparkston Lane in Channing Park subdivision, Rock Hill.
