McCONNELLS -- Mrs. Cora Louise Freeman Orr, 78, of 1699 Orr Road died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. She was born May 28, 1929, in McConnells, S.C., a daughter of the late James Darby and Lillie Wilks Freeman.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Mount Dowell Baptist Church in McConnells, with the Rev. Andrew Rollinson officiating, the Rev. George Lowry delivering the eulogy and Pastor W. T. Holmes of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, Clover, S.C., assisting. Burial will be at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church Cemetery in McConnells.
Mrs. Orr was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. She sang in the hymn choir, was chairperson over the kitchen committee, was a member of the missionary society, a member of the Friendly Aid Union and also a member of the 5th Sunday Adult Singing Convention.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Maxwell Orr Sr.; two daughters, Helen Orr Beard and Willie Orr Burris; and a son, George Melvin Orr.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda L. Orr of York, S.C., and Bobbie J. Orr of the home; five sons, John M. Orr Jr. (Lois), Dennis M. Orr (Anna) and Michael A. Orr, all of McConnells, James G. Orr (Debra) of York and Andre F. Orr (Sonya) of Rock Hill, S.C.; three sisters, Nancy Parks (Willie) of McConnells, Mary Hall of Chester, S.C., and Annie Bell Freeman of Rock Hill; a niece raised as a sister, Mary F. Feemster (James) of McConnells; four brothers, James "Jake," Roosevelt and Ernest Freeman, all of McConnells and Andy Freeman (Willie Mae) of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters reared in the home, Armisha Orr and Nina Davis of McConnells; a brother-in-law, William D. Orr Jr. (Susie) of McConnells; a daughter-in-law, Annie Orr of McConnells; two sons-in-law, George Burris of McConnells and Derrick Beard of Rock Hill; 23 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
