FORT MILL -- Mrs. Louesta Lowery Henry, 83, of 108 W. Lockman St., died Thursday, April 17, 2008, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Henry was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Statesville, N.C., to the late A.V. Lowery and Clara Walker Lowery of Mooresville, N.C. She was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Fort Mill. She graduated from Central High School, Mooresville, N.C., in 1944 and was involved in Home Economics, The Central Times Staff, and softball. She graduated from the Gradwohl School of Laboratory Technique, St. Louis, Missouri in 1945. She then went on to become a Registered Medical Technologist. She was a past president of the York County Medical Social Auxiliary, a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and supported the Health Science Club at Fort Mill High School. She was known as a "doer," you could call on "Lou" to get things done.
Mrs. Henry is survived by her husband of 57 years, W. J. Henry, MD of Fort Mill, S.C.; a daughter, Delia (Dede) Hogon Kelly of North Charleston, S.C.; a son, W. John Henry III, MD of Greer, S.C.; and five grandchildren, Kelly Marie Henry, Rachael Leigh Henry and William Davis Henry of Greer, Ashley Carpenter Hogon of Charlotte, N.C., and Marshall Pence Hogon Jr. of Summerville, S.C.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to Agape Hospice, 159 Sedgewood Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Unity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1267, Fort Mill, SC 29716.

Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, S.C., is serving the Henry family. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Old Purity Cemetery in Chester, with the Rev. Dr. R. Daniel Holloway Jr. and the Rev. Jeannie B. Bickett officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at 108 W. Lockman St., Fort Mill, S.C.
