WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Ms. Shirley Mae Jamison Green passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at her residence.
She was a native of York County, S.C. and had resided in Winston-Salem for most of her life, where she attended the WSFC public schools and was a graduate of Anderson High School. Ms. Green was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she served as president of the John Mendez Mass Choir, assistant secretary of the morning breakfast club, secretary of the nurse's board, assistant church secretary and in many other capacities. She was a former employee of the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public schools.
Ms. Green was preceded in death by her father, Wade Jamison. Surviving is her husband, Darian Green; her mother, Mrs. Willie McCoy Lowry of McConnells; four sisters, Varlenia (James) Scott of Washington, D.C., Sarah Lowry of McConnells, Theresa Lowry Sanders of Rock Hill and Joyce (James) Wright of Columbia; three brothers, the Rev. George H. (Mary) Lowry of McConnells, David (Leslie Mae) McCoy of Rock Hill and John (Jackie) Lowry of McConnells; an aunt, Ms. Bobbie Smith of Winston-Salem; one uncle, Samuel (Lula Mae) McCoy of Rock Hill; one great uncle, Woodrow McCoy, of Sharon; a special cousin, Lafayette (Dee) Wilson of Winston Salem; devoted friends, Esther Boulware, Arlene Smith, Wandella Rice, Carolyn Allison, Glenda Warren and Joann Roseboro; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. John Mendez officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.
