CATAWBA -- Mr. Arthur Jeffrey Davis, 71, of Catawba, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his residence.
Arthur was born in Theresa, N.Y. on January 12, 1937, one of 31 children of George and Annie Van Tassel Davis. He was a US Army Veteran, serving his country from 1955 until 1957. He moved from N.Y. to Rock Hill in 1962 and began a career with Bowater that lasted 32 years.
Surviving are his wife, Estelle Adams Davis, of the home; two daughters, Kim Bailey and husband, Randy, of Rock Hill and Vicki Lowder and her husband, William, of Weddington, N.C.; a son, Jeffrey Arthur Davis, of Cayce, S.C.; two stepchildren, Todd Plyler of Catawba and Staci P. Burrell and her husband, Patrick, of Clover; 10 grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, at New Covenant Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlisle Lewis. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
