ROCK HILL -- Earnest "Wendell" Burris, 62, 3374 Skyline Road, passed away at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte on Friday, April 18, 2008.
Services for Mr. Burris will be 3 p.m. today April 20, 2008, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, with Pastor Jerry Devinney officiating with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A native of Brunswick, Ga., Mr. Burris was the son of the late T. C. and Peggy Aldridge Burris. Mr. Burris was retired from Duke Power Company, a member of Masonic Lodge 385 in Rock Hill and a Shiner. He was an avid NASCAR fan, hunter, fisherman and loved to work on cars.
Mr. Burris is survived by his sons, Bruce Jenkins and wife, Kim, of Roan Mountain, T.N., Ricky Burris and wife, Pam, of Connelly Springs, N.C. and Jamie Burris of York; his daughters, Wendy Burris and her fiancé', William Baron, and Angie B. Hartis and husband, Dewayne, all of Rock Hill; his brothers, Charles W. Burris and wife, Dolores, of Monroeville, Ala. and J. C. Burris and wife, Josie, of Rock Hill; his grandson, Ayden Hartis; his granddaughters, Holly Burris, Sammmie Parks, Kaylee Burris, Noelle Burris, Kendell Frasure, Addison Baron and Layce Baron; and his caregiver, Sherrie Henderson.
Visitation for Mr. Burris will be 1:30 until 2:45 p.m., Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill and other times at the home.
