LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Max E. Waltman, 85, of Lewisburg, Pa., passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Riverwoods.
He was born in Allenwood, Pa. on May 7, 1922, a son of the late John D. and Helen L. (Fry) Waltman. On May 26, 1949, he married the former Ruby Patterson Edwards and they have celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Max graduated from Montgomery/Clinton High School in 1940 and graduated from the former Goodwin School of Business in Williamsport, Pa.
He retired from the Conrail Railroad, having spent most of his adult life in the Arlington/Washington D.C. area. He formerly resided in Smith Mountain Lake, Va., until relocating to Lewisburg in 2003.

He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theatre.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby, a resident at Riverwoods in Lewisburg; two brothers, Ned and John Waltman, both of Watsontown; and a sister, Marvene Elliott of Lewisburg.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown, Pa., with Pastor Wayne A. Shamer of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church in White Deer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Montgomery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.
