ROCK HILL -- Ms. Maggie Lou (Mag) Robinson, of 1150 Flint St. Ext., was born on Oct. 11, 1936, in York County, the daughter of Janette Robinson. She departed this life on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ralph V. Washington officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. She was educated in the York County public schools and at an early age, she joined Rock Grove AME Zion Church, where she served on the Trustee Board, Usher Board, Parent Body No. 1 and the Missionary Society. She was a member of Electa Chapter 234, Order of Eastern Star. Maggie was formerly employed with the Rock Hill School District and Rock Grove Church. She retired from Woodland United Methodist Church. Maggie was a loving mother who loved her family and friends. She always had a positive attitude and lovely personality. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Janette Robinson of Rock Hill; six daughters, Annie Y. (John) Joseph, Francine Robinson, Linda Robinson, Debbie A. (Tony) Robinson-Simpson, Debra E. Robinson and Lisa G. (Melvin) Orr, all of Rock Hill; two sons, James E. (Gloria) Robinson of Rock Hill and Ricky Robinson of Berea, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Mae Isom of Patterson, N.J.; five brothers, Nathaniel Robinson, Woodrow Robinson, Jerry (Diana) Robinson, James W. (Barbara) Barber, all of Rock Hill and Tommy (Ruth) Robinson of Washington, D.C.; her special friend and sister in Christ, Maggie B. Douglas of Edgemoor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ms. Robinson may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and from noon until time of the service Saturday at the church. The family will receive friends at the home. Robinson Funeral Home is serving the Robinson family.
