CHARLOTTE -- Mrs. Hoban, 79, of Highland Creek passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Levine Dickson Hospice House. She was born June 29, 1928, in Tenafly, N.J., the daughter of the late John and Frances Munder.
Barbra was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She received her Baccalaureate Degree from Mont Caire State formerly, Panzer College and her Masters Degree in Education at Columbia University. She retired after 17 years from Weight Watchers. She volunteered at Presbyterian Orthopedic Hospital, Carolinas Medical Center - University, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, University YMCA, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, St. Judes Telethon and she worked at the voting polls. She was a founding member of the Empty Nesters, the Golden Girls, and the Women's Golf League of Highland Creek. She enjoyed bridge, golf and theatre.
Barbra never knew a stranger, she enjoyed talking to everyone. She was full of life and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, officiated by Father Remo DiSalvatore. Interment will follow at Evergreen City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 30, 2008, at McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel.

Barbra is survived by her four daughters, Kathy Miller and her husband, Rich, of Vincentown, N.J., Trish Mellina and her husband, Chris, of West Milford, N.J., Jackie Delvalle and her husband, Ramon, of Charlotte, N.C., and Roberta Ledford and her fiancé, Bobby Jothen of Rock Hill, S.C.; her two sons, Thomas Hoban of Charlotte, N.C., and Bruce Hoban and his wife, Wendy, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Dorothy Oram and her husband, Randall, of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband Robert F. Hoban.
