YORK -- Estle Shell "Mac" McKown, 89, of 3025 Chesbrough Blvd., formerly of Pierpont Avenue Extension, Spartanburg, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Willow Brook Court Skilled Nursing Facility in Rock Hill.
Born Oct. 22, 1918, in Pelham, S.C., he was the son of the late Dr. Robert Forrest and Rena Patterson McKown. He was retired from Eastern Airlines with 38 years of service, a member of Oakland Baptist Church of Rock Hill and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rebecca Hall McKown; two daughters, Becky Staton of Rock Hill and Jane McKown of Hendersonville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Cynthia Spruill and her husband, Jason, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a grandson, Mark Staton and his wife, Ashley, of Columbia.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. today, June 11, 2008, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert D. Shrum. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
