YORK -- Nancy Moseley Bennett, 66, of 424 Sandifer Road, formerly of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2008, at her residence.
Born in Gaffney, she was the wife of Charles M. (Chuck) Bennett and the daughter of the late Robert E. (Firpo) Moseley and Hazel Neely Moseley. She was a graduate of Gaffney High School and attended Winthrop College. Mrs. Bennett started her career in the coroner's office in Gaffney, stayed home many years to rear her daughter and baby-sit many others she thought of as her own and finished out her career at the York County Public Defender's Office. She was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in York, where she served in many capacities and was a frequent volunteer at church and in the community. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.
In addition to her husband, also surviving is a daughter, Lisa B. Peeples and husband, Jerry, of Thomasville, N.C.; a grandson, Trey Childers and his wife, Erica, of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Emily Peeples of Trinity, N.C.; a great-granddaughter, Marah Childers of Gaffney; a brother, Dan Moseley and his wife, Jan, of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Nell B. McRae and her husband, Scott, of Charlotte, N.C., and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008, at Philadelphia United Methodist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the church with the Rev. John Williams officiating.
