HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. -- Mildred H. Hoffman, 86, died June 23, 2008, at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, peacefully after a short illness. Mildred lived in Long Valley, (Fairmount Area) N.J., and was born in Peapack-Gladstone, N.J. (Somerset County) on July 28, 1921. She was a daughter of the late George and Edna Bickle Philhower. Mildred retired from Washington Township Town Hall Tax Collectors Office in Long Valley, N.J. She attended Bernardsville High School and graduated from Hackettstown High School, Class of 1940. She was past member of the Fairmount Fire Company Womans Auxilary.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Charles E. Hoffman; one son, Lynn Hoffman of Hackettstown, N.J.; one daughter, Shirley and her husband, Jeffrey Nicholson, of Rock Hill, S.C.; one granddaughter, Kathryn Nicholson; and one brother, Earl Philhower of Long Valley, N.J. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Gustiv Philhower and Helen Tallon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
