SALISBURY, N.C. -- Mrs. Mabel Graham Rhyne, 75, of Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Faith, N.C., passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, N.C. Mabel was born April 8, 1933, in Atlanta Ga., the daughter of the late Robert Lee Graham and Lucille Collett Graham. Mabel was a graduate of Gastonia High School and attended Lenoir Rhyne College. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she had been very active for 23 years, having taught Sunday School Class, Catechism, directed the Children's Choir and sang in the Adult Choir.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Alfred Dickson Rhyne on Feb. 25, 2005; a son, Michael Graham Rhyne on June 26, 2005; and a brother, Edward Lee Graham.
Survivors are son, John L. Rhyne and wife, Patricia, of Salisbury; a daughter, Dana R. Walters and husband, Robert, of Lexington; brother, Larry Eugene Graham of York, S.C.; a sister, Sarah Graham Sox of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandsons, Wesley Rhyne and wife, Melissa, of Granite Quarry, Andy Rhyne of Rockwell and Sawyer and Sloan Walters of Lexington.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Loyd Ginn, Pastor officiating and the Rev. Darrell Norris, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks assisting. Burial will follow at the Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home today, June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m.
