DALZELL -- Bobby Earl Odom Sr., 61, husband of Viva Jane Touchberry Odom, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Chester, he was a son of Affie Lee Bussie Odom and the late Leonard Ambrose Odom.
Mr. Odom was a retired master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and a Vietnam veteran. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Dalzell; mother of Chester; five sons, Bryan Jeffrey Blackmon of Texarkana, Ark., Michael Kevin Blackmon (Sherry) of Sumter, Gregory Loren Blackmon Sr. (Rhonda Marcale) of Goose Creek, Brian James Odom of Springfield, Colo., and Master Sgt. Bobby Earl Odom Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Lacy Jane Jayroe, Christopher Justin Blackmon, Ciera Nicole Blackmon, Michael Jonathan Blackmon, Gregory Loren Blackmon Jr., Amber Denise Blackmon, and Cordon Blackmon; a great-grandson, Derek Allen Reynolds; a brother, Wayne Odom (Betty) of Chester; and two sisters, Emma Lou Varnodore (Billy) and Diane Moore (Pot), all of Chester.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Rivers and Mr. Bobby June officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
