Mrs. Brice died at her home in Woodward on July 8, 2008. Wife of James Boyce Brice Jr. and daughter of the late Lewis B. and Rose C. Still, she was born, Jan. 7, 1938 in Winnsboro. She graduated from Mount Zion Institute High School and Palmer College in Columbia. She was a member from childhood of Sion Presbyterian Church in Winnsboro until after marriage when she transferred her membership to Concord Presbyterian Church in Woodward.
She and her beloved husband of 49 years, Jim, lived in Clemson while he completed his degree and then later in York and Charleston before settling in Irmo where they reared their children. In the late 1980's, they moved to the ancestral home in Woodward where she became active in a number of organizations including the Chester, Woodward and Winnsboro Bridge Clubs.
Sarah was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known as "Nana" to all of her loved ones and was a friend to many and was loved by all who knew her. She was a special person with a compassionate heart, always seeing only the good in others. She will be dearly missed.
Never miss a local story.
In addition to her husband, Sarah is survived by four daughters, Carolyn B. Montgomery of Woodward, Jane Elise 'Lisa' Brice of Chapin, Sarah B. Kinard of Columbia and Kimberly B.
